what to say Red wines from Saint-Estèphe, the top of the core Médoc appellations, make us rave. The balanced use of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and the special terroir of Saint-Estèphe (including the high proportion of clay in the soil and the proximity to the Atlantic) results in a wine that, in our opinion, combines the advantages of both sides of the Bordeaux river in one wine. A peppery, full-bodied, yet subtly fruity taste experience that you shouldn't miss!
Flavors of plum, blueberry, porcini mushroom, vanilla, tobacco and black pepper will enchant your taste buds with this wine.
This wine is definitely already at its peak of enjoyment, but will certainly stay there for a few more years. The Château de Côme 2014 is classified as Cru Bourgeois, i.e. directly below the Grand Cru Classés des Médocs.

Zuerst ein Fakt, der zeigt, wie viel Pioniergeist im Château de Côme steckt: Das Weingut war nämlich das erste Weingut der Appellation Saint-Estèphe, welche das Bio-Zertifikat erhalten hat. Das Château de Côme hat 1997 mit der Übernahme durch die belgische Familie Velge sein Comeback in der Bordelaiser Weinszene erlebt. Es blickt jedoch auf eine lange Geschichte zurück, seitdem es durch die aus Saint-Estèphe stammende Familie desselben Namens Ende der 1880er-Jahre gegründet wurde. Das Weingut umfasst 7 Hektar Rebfläche.
Die beiden Önologen José Bueno, mit Vergangenheit auf dem Château Mouton-Rothschild und Eric Boissenot, der unter anderem auf Château Margaux gearbeitet hat, sorgen dafür, dass hier nur noch Cuvées der Extraklasse entstehen. Maud Esertel macht zudem einen exzellenten Job in der Vermarktung der Weine.
Neben einem klassischen roten Saint-Estèphe, welcher auf den typischen Ton-Kalk-Böden wächst, überzeugt der weisse Bordeaux, der im hohen Médoc einer kleineren Revolution gleichkommt.
