On the neighboring winery of Château Faugères, which is managed by the Swiss Silvio Denz, top-class Saint-Émilions are also vinified. The appellation's classic cuvée (65% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc) is refined with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon (12%) and the old Bordeaux grape Malbec (3%). The wines of Jérôme and Beatrice de Monteil regularly receive top marks, including from the Swiss wine critic Yves Back. In terms of value for money, this wine classified as "Grand Cru" is unbeatable anyway.

The wine has a beautiful deep color and offers a powerful nose with aromas of plum, liquorice and spices as well as ripe aromas of truffle and undergrowth. The finish almost never stops and pulls you under its spell. This is a wine that is already flying at the level of pleasure, but can easily continue to develop for a dozen years.

Die Familie de Monteil ist seit dem 15. Jahrhundert im Besitz des inzwischen 8 Hektar umfassenden Château Haut Rocher. 2010 haben der ehemalige Pariser Steuerberater Jérôme und seine Frau Béatrice de Monteil die Führung mit grosser Leidenschaft übernommen.

Ihr Weingut setzt auf einen biologischen Anbau und hat auch die entsprechende Zertifizierung. Neben den Parzellen in Saint-Émilion bewirtschaften die de Monteils auch das Château Bréhat in der Appellation AOC Castillon - Côtes de Bordeaux.

Das Château Haut Rocher liegt in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft des Château Faugères, welches vom Schweizer Silvio Denz geführt wird. Die Böden, auf denen die Weine von Château Haut Rocher gedeihen, sind eine Mischung aus Kalk und Lehm (frz. “argilo-calcaire”), welche das Hochplateau von Saint-Émilion seit Jahrhunderten auszeichnen.
