A Pomerol in its purest form! A trouvaille that is produced with a dedication that makes us rave. Geneviève Duroux, the amiable owner of the winery, makes sure every day personally in the vines that everything is going to her liking and sometimes spends a whole night in the vineyard. The result of these efforts is a Merlot bomb that can hardly be surpassed in terms of complexity of the aroma.
The expansion in barriques and the first notes of aging can be felt from the first sip. Chocolate and leather are already recognizable on the nose. Above all, however, aromas that are very typical for Merlots from the "Pétrus-Knopfloch" (terroir around the world-famous Château Pétrus, 400m away) stand out: cassis, plum, blackberry and a hint of mint.
Although the wine is already very enjoyable and accessible for its comparatively young age, it can also be stored in the cellar for up to 20 years. A Pomerol to drink a bottle of every year (or rather every month)!

Château Thibeaud-Maillet
Mit rund 2 Hektaren Rebfläche ist das Château Thibeaud-Maillet eines der kleinsten Weingüter der Appellation AOC Pomerol. Nur 400 Meter vom weltberühmten Château Pétrus entfernt, entstehen hier Pomerols der Extraklasse. Das dortige Terroir, auch “Pétrus-Knopfloch” genannt, besteht aus einer Mischung von “Graviers” (dt. “kleine Kieselsteine”) und sandigem Untergrund.
Das Weingut wurde Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts von der Familie Thibeaud im Pomerol-Weiler Maillet gegründet und befindet sich heute in den Händen der Familie Duroux. Roger Duroux, eine Institution, kümmerte sich um die Reben, bis er fast 80 Jahre alt war.
Seine Tochter Geneviève, eine ehemalige Lehrerin, übernahm 2011 die Leitung und brach die Qualität nochmals auf ein höheres Niveau. Genevièves Gastfreundlichkeit und ihre tiefgründigen Weine haben uns von der ersten Minute verzaubert. Bei Thibeaud-Maillet ist man stolz auf die bis zu 50 Jahre alten Rebstöcke und die handwerkliche Produktion.
